When he passed I got another Westie because they are the most special dogs on earth to me BUT (in my opinion) I am still working and active and my little guy is very stong and wants to go for walks and requires a fair amount of attenion. If you can handle the physical needs of the breed, go for it. They can be lap dogs and cuddle, but they are totally active dogs also so consider your age and physical ability.
