The West Highland Terrier Breeders to Call

west highland terriersIf you are considering purchase of a Westie pup, the best way to do it is to get references on West Highland Terrier breeders.

One good reference for a reputable breeder near you would be the West Highland White Terrier Club of America. Do not go to just any pet shop as you’ll have to carefully examine the Westie’s pedigree, its parents, for like any other dog, it can be a carrier of genetically transmitted disease.

You’ll immediately know the reputable West Highland Terrier breeders, for they’ll screen you as well as you screen the dog and its breeder.

If the breeder asks a lot of questions about you as a pet owner, this is a good sign that the person you’re dealing with is among the more responsible West Highland Terrier breeders.

Proper Grooming for the West Highland White Terrier

west highland terrier groomingIf you own a West Highland White Terrier, grooming would be one of your primary concerns in taking good care of the pet.

After all, you’d want to keep your compact little friend’s thick all-white, thick coat clean and shiny, qualities that contribute to making the Westie a lovable pet in the household.

Grooming a West Highland White Terrier isn’t that difficult. These pets need not be bathed too often as they are capable of cleaning themselves. Bathe the pet only when necessary or at least once a month.

A West Highland Terrier does not shed much hair so you can simply brush your pet with a stiff bristle brush and this should be enough to keep its coat clean.
