The pet owner has to constantly check on the newborn pups to ensure that they are not cold and if the mother is feeding her litter well.

Usually, the Westie mom will stay with her puppies for the first several days after delivering the litter. Ensuring that the Westie puppies are warm becomes particularly crucial once their mother leaves her litter after one month.

Particular attention has to be devoted likewise to the mother who could display stress or aggressive behaviour if somebody comes near the Westie puppies.

Don’t Underestimate Westie Dogs


 

westie dogsPets referred to as Westie dogs are actually West Highland white terriers. Many pet lovers raise Westies as lap dogs because of their soft, dense all-white coat.

However, these pets despite being small and cuddly wound want to be treated more than a lap dog. Westie dogs are intelligent creatures as can be seen by the penetrating gaze of their bright, dark deep-set eyes.

Westies are easily trained, lively and make for a good traveling companion. Even as their compact size range only between 25 and 30 cm (10-12 inches).

Westies also make good watchdogs for they are brave, tough and love to bark.
